About Andrea Friedell
I am first and foremost a grandmother. Second, at this point in my life, I am an artist.
My favorite gifts as a child were colorbooks and brand new sharpend Crayolas. I didn't know I was an artist. At several points in my life, I picked up paint and brushes and created paintings, lost along the way. But in 2005 upon the death of the father of my children, I began to paint obsessively. My first paintings were very sad women. Lots and lots of them.
I was lucky enough to learn that across the street from where I lived was a wonderful watercolor artist, who was happy to come over and teach me some basics; then she hooked me up with the Houston Watercolor Society and dragged me to life drawing sessions. I was married to a man who was happy to "sponsor an artist," he said, so I accumulated many art supplies in every known medium. I took classes, bought books and attended workshops.
Now, 9 years later, I have found my outlet, my calling and my passion. I paint every day.
